honor your roots ✦ Connect your village

Living Heirlooms

We weave beautiful creations that keep your stories alive in everyday life.

Transforming personal, family & community stories into tangible artifacts & rituals that help you and your village stay rooted across time.

LIVING HEIRLOOMS is a collaborative creative studio that works with artists, families, & communities worldwide to transform meaningful stories into tangible creations.

Living Heirlooms can take many forms: handcrafted artifacts, commemorative books, films, garments, even rituals and gatherings.

Each is woven with care to be shared, held close, and passed on. Some of our favorite commissions have marked reunions, milestones, and gifts of love across generations. 💛

🌼 Why create a Living Heirloom? 🌼

Stories shape who we are — but when they live only in our heads, they can fade or feel hard to carry forward in our lives.

Most often, they live in fragments: memories recalled once and forgotten, traditions lost to time, histories passed down incomplete.

Living Heirlooms give stories a place to land, breathe, and grow.

When a story takes form as something you can see, hear, or hold, it becomes…

An anchor you can return to ⚓️

A treasure you can share 💎

A bridge between generations 🤝

This is how storytelling becomes storyliving:

when the past is brought into the present,

helping you remember where you come from,

so you feel less disconnected,

more at home in the life you’re living now.

Your heirloom could look like…

Each heirloom is one of a kind. The form it takes is shaped by the stories it carries and how you want to interact with it in your everyday life. Living Heirlooms have taken many shapes including:

Films & Interviews 📸

Capturing voices, special occasions, or legacies meant to be revisited and shared

Bespoke Books & Memoirs 📖

Created to honor and celebrate family stories, memories, or values across generations

Symbolic Artifacts ✨

Designed to hold memory: altars, keepsakes, or functional pieces with personal meaning

Garments & Wearables 🪡

Crafted from inherited clothing or textiles, reimagined for everyday life

Rituals & Gatherings 🎉

Memorable experiences created to bring your village together

🌼 How a Living Heirloom is made 🌼

Scribing

Clarify what matters most

We begin by slowing down to listen and learn together. Through guided reflection, we name the core stories and embodied intentions you hope your heirloom will carry.

This stage helps clarify the scope and design, while creating space for memory and meaning to surface.

Shaping

Turn the story into tangible form

Stewarding the creative direction, I design the heirloom’s form and, when it resonates, bring in trusted collaborators whose craft serves the story with integrity.

Throughout this phase, we focus on coherence: ensuring the heart of the story stays aligned with the hands shaping its form.

Integration

Weave it into everyday life

As the heirloom comes into being, we imagine its life in the world — how it will be shared, gifted, gathered around, or passed on.

This final stage helps anchor the heirloom into everyday life, so the story isn’t just preserved, but becomes something you live with and return to over time.

Some people enjoy being closely involved in the process, while others prefer to entrust the studio to carry the vision forward. Both approaches are welcome.

“I felt so well taken care of. Your attention to detail was exquisite… a truly unprecedented level of sincerity and conscientiousness.

To be witnessed in community and christened on my birthday with a beautiful scarf, woven from my most beloved shirts across time… it was a perfect rebirth moment.

Whenever I wear it now, I feel like someone who cherishes himself like a firstborn child — and enjoys showing up in life this way.”

Meet Chrislyn

Emmy-winning Storyweaver

I’m Chrislyn, a storyweaver & creative steward devoted to helping families and communities stay connected to their roots.

My path began with a memorial film tribute for my grandparents — a gift that brought my family closer and revealed to me how powerful the practice of remembrance can be.

Today, I guide intergenerational storytelling journeys with reverence, discernment, and artisanal care.

May every person I journey with feel held by a wider village, as we honor our ancestors and become better ones in this lifetime.

May the gifts we surface together ripple out beyond us, nourishing the villages we belong to for generations to come.

✦ Frequently Asked Questions ✦

  • Living Heirlooms is a collaborative studio that crosses borders, bringing together stories, people, and artists wherever they are around the world.

Some projects may include in-person gatherings, rituals, or celebrations. The studio itself unfolds across oceans and geographies — just like our stories do.

  • Living Heirlooms focuses on story gathering, meaning-making, and creative integration — not in-depth genealogy research or clinical therapy.

While the process can be deeply reflective and healing, it’s centered on collaborative creation and lived expression, rather than diagnostic treatment or family history research.

If you’re looking for genealogy support or therapeutic care, I’m happy to point you toward trusted partners.

  • I take on only a few Living Heirloom projects at a time so that each story can be held with the care it deserves.

If exploring a Living Heirloom feels right for you in this season, I encourage you to reach out here sooner rather than later to begin a conversation.

  • Each Living Heirloom is shaped by unique contexts — from the stories involved, to the artists and collaborators brought in, to the scale, timing, and whether the work is integrated into a gathering or milestone.

Rather than offering fixed packages, we work together to design a scope that feels aligned with your story, vision, and resources.

If you’re curious about creating a Living Heirloom, you’re welcome to fill out the inquiry form to begin a conversation and receive a custom quote.

  • No. Living Heirlooms are created through human collaboration and lived experience.

All artifacts and rituals are woven from live ideation, personal materials you share, conversations with loved ones, historical or archival records, and licensed work created by human artists.

I believe the process is the heart of the work. Even when it’s slower or less efficient than automation, the memories and growth we gain along the way from “getting our hands messy in the creative kitchen” are an essential part of what gives each heirloom its unique meaning and soul.

  • If your loved ones are more comfortable expressing themselves in a heritage language rather than English, we can involve trusted translators — from your community or mine — so their stories can be shared in the voice that feels most true.

If you already have someone in mind (such as a family member or friend), you’re welcome to mention them when you reach out.

  • Not at all. Some people arrive with a clear vision, while others come with a feeling, a story, or a question.

The first step of the process is listening together and allowing the form to emerge in response to the stories and intentions you hope to carry forward.

  • There’s flexibility. Some people enjoy being closely involved throughout the journey. Others prefer to entrust the studio to carry the vision to fruition on their behalf.

When you reach out to chat, we’ll find a rhythm that feels supportive and sustainable for you.
